I wonder if "ʾaqtălă" – " ʾ " being a distinctive symbol for aleph / aliph – would be better than the simple apostrophe? Even if the manuscript didn't make the orthographic distinction. Dan Pelleg (talk) 19:29, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- You are totally right. See my comments at MediaWiki talk:Edittools.
- I try to use the half-rings and not quotes for Aleph and Ayin. The OCR actually uses half-rings here and there, but inconsistently. I made some regular expressions for AWB that replace them automatically wherever it is possible, but it will take time until i fix them all. (I can't just search and replace all of them, because in many places the quotes are needed, especially for cited book titles.) You are welcome to join the effort, of course :) --Amir E.
