Copyright status of some poems edit

How do we know whether some of Howard's poems are public domain? Even taking into account here and here? Londonjackbooks (talk) 21:58, 10 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

In this case, Howard Works shows that it was first published in 2007, so it comes under the Life+70 term and entered the public domain in 2006. It is actually protected under EU law (which was the point of the 2007 publication) but I don't really understand that, it's similar to copyright but not actually a copyright, and it doesn't impact Wikisource hosting the poem. I have some books that give the same information as Howard Works (one of which can be downloaded as a PDF these days) but Howard Works is a really good resource for this. Many other poems are US-PD-no renewal were published in Howard's life; he didn't renew due to his suicide and his estate rarely renewed anything. It looks like I forgot to add a licence to this one, so I'll do that now. - AdamBMorgan (talk) 22:44, 10 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! I don't think I'll ever understand copyright, so I defer, as usual! Londonjackbooks (talk) 22:55, 10 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
I find this table helps. Oddly, I have a basic idea about US copyright law but, despite being a subject of Her Britannic Majesty, keep getting UK copyright wrong. As it happens, there actually wasn't a appropriate licence available, so I've created a new one. Hopefully I got it right. - AdamBMorgan (talk) 23:34, 10 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
