Proposed blurb edit

Pollyanna (1913) is a classic children's book, the most famous novel by Eleanor Hodgman Porter, telling the story of Pollyanna, an eleven-year-old girl who goes to live with her strict, cold aunt after her father's death.

The novel was a great success and was quickly followed by a sequel, Pollyanna Grows Up, in 1915; it has also been adapted on several occasions for stage and screen, including a 1960 Disney film and a 1986 Japanese anime series.

With her optimistic spirit, embodied in her "Glad Game", the eponymous heroine teaches the residents of her aunt's glum Vermont town to see the positive side of every situation. Following the success of the book, the term "Pollyannaish" became a popular description for invariably optimistic people.

I think c:File:Pollyann statue (18902222832).jpg would be a good image, although it will need cropping to focus on the statue. BethNaught (talk) 15:28, 11 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
See how c:File:Pollyann statue (18902222832) crop1.jpg looks. Statue is unfortunately dark color against dark leaves. It would be lovely if someone could crop out just the statue. I don't know how to do that. Mary Pickford and Charley Chaplin were in the movie. Maybe a movie poster? I wish we could use anime images! Outlier59 (talk) 22:42, 11 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
