Hi. Could we add William Godwin's version of the Swiss Family Robinson to Wikisource? 68.100.116.118 21:18, 26 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yes, we could. CYGNIS INSIGNIS 21:49, 26 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
Is there any way to find a scan? I cannot find one, nor do I own a copy of the translation. Furthermore, I do not have the time to upload a scan. Yet, the Godwin version is not only the original English version but also the only one to present the characters and settings, if not the story, the way Johann Wyss originally had them before Madame Montolieu revamped the story. Thus, Wikisource should not lack a copy of this unique version. Anything can be done about it? 68.100.116.118 13:43, 15 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
I could not find a scan or transcript either, perhaps one will become available. That edition would be a welcome addition (I would like to read it). There are a lot of texts that are missing from the shelves here, if you have some time you could help to add them. CYGNIS INSIGNIS 15:23, 15 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
At Google Books, there is a limited access to the penguin edition [1]. Perhaps we could use the limited pages from the preview to start the addition. 68.100.116.118 14:52, 18 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
I found at Google books copies of Godwin's version with the parts in two seperate ebooks. [2], [3]. Is it allowded to use these? 68.100.116.118 22:46, 30 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
The primary criterion for Wikisource is whether the particular edition is in public domain, and not under copyright. Some of the editions at Google books have been scanned and uploaded for limited view even though they are still under copyright. So being present on that site is no guarantee that we can use it. --EncycloPetey (talk) 01:39, 31 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes. But those two copies to which I linked to appear to be old ones and have full access unlike the limited penguin copy I linked to earlier. Am not sure if they are in public domain though.68.100.116.118 13:25, 5 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
