Template talk:Import enwiki

@Beleg Tâl, @Xover, @Samwilson, @Mpaa: A little experimental construct, and one that we can look to work into template:plain sister once we see that it is okay. and work on how it would work. Suggest that we experiment a little further prior to waving this more broadly, though I will note that due to excellent systems in place it is safe to use and appears to fail gracefully. You can see the background to my query and the provided logic at user talk:RexxS. — billinghurst sDrewth 23:06, 28 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Billinghurst: Ooooh. Shiny! :)
I think we need some good logic to make sure manually provided values override the automatic, but other than that I would suggest to just push this out to {{plain sister}} asap. There are going to be a bunch of gotchas related to strange constructs at Wikidata (like multiple main subjects, as you've noted), but we need this out in the wild to find those and develop the requisite sanity checking. In the meanwhile I think the failure mode is pretty benign so the risk of figuring it out in the wild is reasonable. --Xover (talk) 06:26, 29 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
As this is just a proof of concept <-> display purposes, I think we should be moving conversation to Template talk:Plain sister. — billinghurst sDrewth 09:29, 29 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
