The darkblue seems quite at odds to most other templates (introducing colour where there usually isn't any in the original work). The other issue is that it sets the

I hadn't noticed this template {{r}} would be exactly what I needed, I would have used it of course!
I think in something like this the {{r}} template is very useful. Don't you think so?

- Yes, I think e.g. {{pline|123|r}} would have the same effect as seems to be being aimed at with {{r|123}}, and doesn’t have the potential problems with the ID attribute (and has a non-link colour). And I've fixed that date formatting above (just simple; forgive me if I've lost any nuance in the process; change at will).
