NEVADA. A city and the county-seat of Story County, Iowa, 32 miles north by east of Des Moines; on the Chicago and Northwestern and other railroads (Map: Iowa, D 3). It is the centre of a farming and cattle-raising district, and has a large cold storage plant for butter and eggs, and some manufactures, the chief products being tile and flour. There is a public library of 5000 volumes. Population, in 1890, 1662; in 1900, 2472.
