Contains six Seif.

1 If it's missing the spleen it's kosher. 2 One end of the spleen is thick and the other pointed, like the tongue's shape. If it's punctured on the thick end with a hole that goes through it's treif, but if it doesn't go through then if under it there remains like the thickness of a gold dinar it's permitted. If less than that then behold it's like a hole that goes through and treif. But if the thin end has a hole going through it's kosher. Rema: And even if it's cut on the pointed part it's kosher (Tur). If the spleen is torn or atrophied or diseased with an altered flesh it's rule is like it's punctured (Shaarei and HG"A), and the same for any place where the flesh is bad or rotten, it's rule is like it's punctured. And if there's fluid in the spleen even if it's clouded or putrid if the flesh around it is intact it's kosher (N"Y in the name of Morekhai and HG"A and A"L 60:50). 3 There's an opinion that wrote that whatever is adhered to the belly (Keres, rumen) is called the thick end and nothing else is called that. 4 The thickness of a gold dinar, we don't know its (exact) measure, but anyhow it seems it has to be less than half (the spleen's) thickness. 5 If there are two spleens it's kosher, even if they're attached to each other on the thick end. Rema: And some are strict if there's found a kind of spleen on the thick side (Hagahod Sh"D #89 and M"K in the name of Maharil and Mahari Molin). 6 The spleen of a bird is round like a grape and unlike that of a beast, therefore a puncture does not invalidate it.
