Translation talk:Revelation

Translation edit

I have started work on Revelation, if anybody already has some of it done, please tell me so I don't waste my time. I will be using the Byzantine Textform (2005) by Robinson and Peirpont. I will be using a Thayer's Greek-English Lexicon. One of the problems stated in the beginning of the Byzantine Textform was what is the standard text, if anybody wants to know they use primarily the Q manuscript line within the Byzantine transmission line. (sometimes they do use Av though, see preface to Byzantine Textform 2005, The Text of the Apocalypse) Since the text of the apocalypse has many variations, this work must have a large amount of footnotes to show this, so it will take longer than other chapters. So bare with me. Any advice would be great! Gospeltothepoor 03:28, 14 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have now finished the translation. The footnotes are classified as followed. Av indicates alternative readings within the Byzantine Textform. Syn indicates a alternative way of translating the greek word. NU indicates alternative Alexandrian readings. ? indicates that there is a question in translating that is serious enough to change the meaning of the verse. Chapter 2 is being translated by Fiat Lux. He is using NA27 as his source text.[1]--Jdavid2008 21:33, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
