• @Beeswaxcandle: The last half (last two groupings of notes, for lack of correct terminology) of the bass clef in Bar 15 matches the original sheet music, but sounds wrong. Substituting c, <g' ees'!> <c ees g> a, <ges' ees'> <c ees ges> for current notation makes it sound "right", but is there a {{Sic}} equivalent that could be used for such "errors" in an original? Londonjackbooks (talk) 00:10, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
Have you slipped a bar or line? The original is definitely an E♭ (ees) rather than a ♮. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 00:27, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
I don't know... I was conflicted by Bar 14 with the e! notation. Zooming in to the original, it looks like a ♮ was laid over a ♭. Using ♮ as opposed to ♭ sounded correct in that (bar 14) case. Would that affect a subsequent bar? Londonjackbooks (talk) 00:44, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
Accidentals are cancelled by bar-lines, so the natural does not carry forward from bar 14. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 01:22, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
Think I found it (fixed with this edit). Just missed a ♮. Still unsure about Bar 14 issue. I'll take a look at other versions. Thank you! Londonjackbooks (talk) 01:48, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
  • @Beeswaxcandle: At your leisure,—It may be another "obvious" error on my part, but I can not figure out where I may have erred with bar 19. Again, I am relying on how it sounds. Bar 19 begins at 1:38. I tried starting from scratch twice. Thanks, Londonjackbooks (talk) 17:57, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
You've matched the printed music—it's just that the printed version is wrong. Both Es in figures 1 and 2 should be naturals and that in the third figure goes back to flat. The Ds in the fourth figure should be naturals and not stay flat. Not a lot we can do to fix that in this score. By the way, the first bass note in bar 18 actually has a ♭ printed in front of it. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 05:42, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for pointing bar 18 out... I am working off a printed copy, not the best quality, and the ♭ is squished up against the bar. Londonjackbooks (talk) 10:53, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
  • @Beeswaxcandle: No priority, but I was wondering if you could double-check the last grouping in bar 31. I am not sure how to make it look like the original (or if it needs to). Also, I am not sure what to do about bar 32 or the last bar (34) in the piece. I am thrown by the treble clef notation. All said, I have primarily been adding notes (only) with no other notation. I will go back and add 'dots' where appropriate and as I can discern them in the original. I may try to replicate your pedal &c. notation, but may bungle that up. Slowly but surely. I will not do any further editing until I hear from you, but no hurry! Thanks, Londonjackbooks (talk) 03:28, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
I've fixed bar 31 for you by using simultaneous voices. Have a try at doing the last couple of bars in a similar way. I've also dealt with the left hand cadenza (took a bit of fiddling, but I got there on the 7th try). Beeswaxcandle (talk) 06:04, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
  • @Beeswaxcandle: I finished notes to the end (maybe double-check my work in bars 33-34?), and did "repeat unfold" pedal markings up to where they stop in bar 12; they briefly appear in bar 13, then pick up again in bar 25, so I manually added the markings at each bar not knowing if it was possible to continue instructions in the "repeat unfold" section. I'm not so sure how to correctly render the last pedal marking of the piece; it should be after the notes... Londonjackbooks (talk) 18:32, 28 January 2018 (UTC)
P.S. If I need to undo anything due to incorrect formatting, pls. let me know. Londonjackbooks (talk) 18:34, 28 January 2018 (UTC)
Moved the pedalling into the pedal voice; tweaked the last sustainOff to display after the note+fermata; tweaked part 33 to include the crotchet notes with up stems. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 23:16, 28 January 2018 (UTC)

"Archived" commentsEdit

  • 6th bar looked right (compared to image) but sounded wrong [1]. I have made an adjustment, but am unsure as to how to indicate in transcription that an adjustment has been made. Similar adjustment made in bar 14; 30 & 31 (see history for bars 30 & 31).
I'll need to think about this one further.
  • Not sure the e notes are supposed to be tied in the 13th bar.
They are in all the editions I have.
Ok. Thanks. Just trying to figure out if it is always the case when like notes are "joined" that the second note is not sounded. My wording perhaps conjured up a slightly different question. :)
  • How to get a "4" (finger) in the 18th bar to align between and above first 4 e notes (pls refer to score image if necessary)?
That's not a fingering, but an indication that four notes are to be played in the time of three. These are known as tuplets. In the version of Lilypond we're using here this would be done as \times 3/4 { ees8-.-4 ees-.-3 ees-.-2 ees-.-1 } (including the staccato and fingerings). There's another one a couple of bars prior where there's a 3 in the time of 2 at the end of the run of demi-semi-quavers.
