Well, for the individual scanned pages, what you are doing now makes sense. However, I think for the OCRed text I would go ahead and enter it by chapter, i.e. one page per chapter, and link the appropriate scanned pages to the chapters. This way, when the text has been proofread, it already matchs the style guide, and the scanned pages can be deleted. - illy 15:30, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Your work on the preface looks good. However, before you launch into more pages, I think we need to figure out if Volume II starts with Part I or Part III. If it's part III, we can remove the "Volume I" from the titles. That way the entire work is tied together. The other way to do this would be to change the titles to "A Treatise on Electricity and Magnetism/Volume I/..." which would tie the entire work together under "A Treatise on Electricity and Magnetism", but would add unneccesary levels. Do you have access to Vol. II? Could you check how the parts are numbered? - illy 18:37, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Looking at the pages you've entered from Vol. II, I think I'd have to argue to remove the Volume references. The only thing unique to the volumes is the erratta, which should probably be dealt with as footnotes on the individual pages. Volume I contains Electrostatics and Electrokinematics and Volume II contains Magnetism and Electromagnetism. I can see a kind of division between the two volumes, but it's vague. It looks like it was published in two volumes simply to keep the size of the books down. We don't have those limitations and it would be easier on the user if we treat it as one large work. That way there is only one title page (and one master ToC for the Chapters). - illy 19:13, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Some cleanup on old pages

Hi,

Some of the pages of the format A Treatise on Electricity and Magnetism Volume I/#### are still hanging aroung. Is it OK if I go ahead and delete them? (I've already made sure that they're not still linked to by any pages.) - illy 16:21, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Treatise

Hi, Red Rooster,

I've noticed your good work on the Treatise on Electricity. I have a question about the layout, though. The way the layout currently is (linking each section of the preface to its respective scan) produces a fairly choppy presentation, especially with the dividing line and the "PREFACE" repeated over and over again throughout the page. I was wondering if you were going to replicate this throughout the entire Treatise, or if this is for linking to the scanned page so that it can be easily proofread when needed. I'm not trying to nitpick or troll, and I recognize that you're putting a lot of hard work into this, but I also wonder about presentation when people come to this work to try and reference and read it.—Zhaladshar ^(Talk) 18:47, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Treatise and the new ProofreadPage extension

Hi. ThomasV left a note on my talk page regarding the new ProofreadPage extension. I tried it with page v from the Treatise and it seems to work well. If you don't mind, I'll employ that method for the whole of the Treatise, as text moving is no longer necessary then, it can simply be transcluded. I've created Template:atoeam page for this purpose. This will also make it much simpler for new users to join the proofreading effort (use the "side by side" display option below the toolbox).--GrafZahl 12:48, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Work in progress on Treatise

Hi Red, I'd joined to the volunteers working into Treatise. An hard and tricky work! Really a good opportunity for me: the opportunity to drag into the mysteries of TeX. I hope, I will not waste your and other's work. A suggestion: to use the Talk page of Index page to speak about (there are lots of small and big problems...). I just added a post there, I wrote a very simple new Template:Numb form to manage numbered formulas. Template:Numb form

I wrote a simple template to manage Numbered Formulas. T.i, formulas (centered on the left) with a number (aligned to the right). It's simply a two-cell table 100% width, first cell aligned center, second cell aligned right.

This code:

Hi Alex, nice template! Red Rooster appears to be dormant these days (only one edit since August 2006). I've tried to make some formula formatting templates myself some time ago, with more or less success. Please check out Category:Formatting templates, with templates such as {{disp}}, {{disp right}}, {{centalign right}}, {{textalign}}, and so on.
