Index:Anatomy_of_the_Human_Body(Lewis-1918).djvu merge request.Edit

Index:Anatomy_of_the_Human_Body_(Part_1).djvu pages 1to682 if present to the appropriate postions in Index:Anatomy_of_the_Human_Body(Lewis-1918).djvu, I managed to get the whole volume uploaded at Commons.

Depending on preference you may also wish to insert placeholders for pp. 29-32 not seemingly present in scans (and assumed blank.) ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 10:56, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

I've put in placeholders for the missing pages in the single volume version. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 22:25, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

Rename Category:Book PublishersEdit

As per discussion on the Scriptorium, would it be possible to change Category:Book Publishers to Category:Publishing companies? Thanks! — Sam Wilson ( TalkContribs ) … 23:19, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

A Naval Biographical Dictionary - search and replaceEdit

Is it possible please to have a search for " and co." at the end of a paragraph to be replaced with " and Co." in Index:A Naval Biographical Dictionary.djvu There are about 137 remaining changes required in 1400 pages. GreyHead (talk) 21:56, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

A Naval Biographical Dictionary - add CategoriesEdit

Please check all the pages on Special:WhatLinksHere/Index:A_Naval_Biographical_Dictionary.djvu (sorry, I'm not sure how else to describe them) and, if there is no "[[Category:" present add [[Category:A Naval Biographical Dictionary]] [[Category:Royal Navy officers]]. I have added the Categories manually to a couple of hundred of the 5000 or so pages. GreyHead (talk) 08:18, 4 May 2016 (UTC)

If it is required to categorise in that way, maybe we should consider whether we should have a specific header template variation {{NBD header}}that includes the categories the template in the header, or do we just directly apply the category. Having a specific header allows other magic to occur more easily for that set of work. Noting that we will need to ensure that there is something like {{DEFAULTSORT:{{SUBPAGENAME}}}} as well so they sort properly.

Noting that whatever we are doing should look to become the standard as we have plentiful biographical works and if categorisation based on the work is necessary, rather than relying on subpages, then let us have that conversation early. Though it may be better to have that overarching conversation in a more central place. — billinghurst sDrewth 23:08, 4 May 2016 (UTC)

A template (Template:NBD) could be helpful (including or not the category). We could try to use it do checks on the item of the person the entry is about. Jura1 (talk) 09:12, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Masss subst: requestEdit

The following discussion is closed:
Resolved.

Mass subst of {{Statute table/titles/footer}} to enable templates removal. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 14:16, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

This only works if a new line is left in the footer: "\n|-\n|}", I wonder if it is a robust solution, as a the first new line might be stripped for some reason, see [1]. Can this be made more robust?— Mpaa (talk) 22:56, 21 January 2016 (UTC)

Replace {{blank line}} with {{nop}}Edit

The template {{blank line}} is deprecated and is slated for deletion per WS:PD, but it is used on nearly 2000 pages, and needs to be replaced before deletion can occur. —Beleg Tâl (talk) 13:41, 31 October 2016 (UTC)

One comment: replacement should be done according to recommended usage of nop (used at the end of a paragraph in the PAGE: namespace where the paragraph terminates the page). So if blank line is at the beginning of a page, it should be inserted at the end of the previous page.— Mpaa (talk) 17:04, 31 October 2016 (UTC)
I have tested it, and it appears to work correctly with nop at the top of the page. If the bot can be made to put it at the bottom of the previous page, that would be great, but I do not think that is necessary. —Beleg Tâl (talk) 17:13, 31 October 2016 (UTC)
It is deprecated usage, not wrong usage. Why are we bothering? Can't we live with it? — billinghurst sDrewth 22:27, 31 October 2016 (UTC)
I'd think so, but several people indicated a preference to delete at WS:PD and nobody opposed until today. —Beleg Tâl (talk) 11:18, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
Just to note that "blank line" is a (wacky) span template, and "nop" is a div template. — billinghurst sDrewth 14:12, 20 February 2018 (UTC)

Question can we close this as   Not done. It is two separate bot tasks taken without clear vision of the consequences, and for little evident value. That there was a deletion discussion will just mean that the template will need to exist until it is done by other means. I would suggest that someone runs a check on new usage and see if we need to restrict future addition. — billinghurst sDrewth 21:50, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
