Since 1903 he has been secretary of the New York genealogical and biographical societies; and in 1906 was secretary of the sons of the revolution of New York. 1780 he entered the colonial army as surgeon. He had the first botanical garden in Rhode Island. In 1811 he was elected professor of materia medica and botany in Brown university. He was part author of The Farmer's Guide. He died Feb. 5, 1834, in Foster, R.I. (Drum, Augustus, congressman, was born in Indiana, Pa. In 1853-55 he was a representative from Pennsylvania to the thirtythird congress. He died in Pennsylvania. Drum, Richard Coulter, soldier, was born May 28, 1825, in Pennsylvania. He served in Mexico in 1847; served in the Mexican war; and was brevetted first lieutenant for bravery. He was transferred to the artillery; served in the expedition against the Sioux; and served in the Kansas troubles of 1856. During the civil war he attained the rank of assistant adjutant general in the United States army; became captain in 1861; and
was made brigadier-general for services during the civil war. He became a full colonel in 1869; and in 1880 became adjutant-general of the United States army; and retired with the rank of brigadier-general. Drumgoole, John C, clergyman, priest, was bom Aug. 15, 1821, in Ireland. In 1869 he was ordained to priesthood. In 1876 he founded the St. Joseph's Union; and donated to the worthy poor.
