HERRINGSHAW'S LIBRARY OF AMERICAN BIOGRAPHY. Dunn, Jesse James, lawyer, jurist, was born Oct. 3, 1867, in Channahon, 111. He was educated in the public schools; in 1886-87 attended the Illinois state normal school in 1891 graduated from Garden City business college of Kansas; and in
1893 received the degree of LL.B. from the university of Kansas. In 1893 he began the practice of law; and in 1896-1900 was county attorney for Woods county, Okla. In 1904 he was chairman of the democratic territorial committee; and in 1906 was chairman of the state democratic committee. He conducted the campaign for election of delegates to the constitutional convention; and wrote the platforms on which the campaign was waged. Since 1907 he has been an associate justice of the state supreme court of Oklahoma.

Dunn, William McKee, lawyer, jurist, congressman, soldier, was born Dec. 12, 1814, in Hanover, Ind. He was elected to the Indiana legislature in 1848; and was a member of the state constitutional convention in 1850. In 1859-63 he was a representative from Indiana to the thirty-sixth and thirty-seventh congresses. He became assistant judge advocate in the army; was also a delegate to the Philadelphia Loyalists' convention of 1866; and in 1875 was appointed judge advocate-general; and subsequently became brigadier-general. He was educated in the public and high schools of Peoria, 111.; and at Trinity college of Dublin university, Ireland. In 1877 he graduated from the Union college of law at Chicago, 111.: and received the degree of LL.D. from St. Ignatius college. He began the practice of law in 1877; and in 1892-1905 was judge of the circuit court of Cook county, 111. In 1900 he was a presidential elector; and in 1905-07 was mayor of the city of Chicago. Dunne, Edward Joseph, clergyman, bishop. For many years he was a priest in Chicago 111.; and since 1893 has been Roman catholic bishop of Dallas, Texas. Dunne, Finley Peter, journalist, author, was born July 10, 1869, in Chicago, 111. Since 1897 he has been editor of the Chicago Journal. He is the author of Mr. Dooley in Peace and in War. Dunnell, Jacob, manufacturer, was born in 1812 in Providence, R.I. He entered the Dunnell print works as bookkeeper, and later became manager. During the civil war he kept the places of his employes and supported their families while they were gone.
