Advice and Content of the Lords Sjiiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parlia- ment afiembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That from and after the fifth Day of 'July- one ihoufand feven hundred and fifty-nine, no Pcrfon or Perfons whatfoever {hall be fubjedt or liable to take out any Licence for or in rcfpecl of his, her or their trading in, vending or felling, any Quantity of Gold not exceeding two Penny Weights in any one feparate and di(l:in(£l Ware or Piece of Goods, or any Quantity of Silver not exceeding Five Penny Weights in any one feparate and diilintl Ware or Piece of Goods ; but that all Perfons may, from time to time, after the faid fifth Day of July one thoufand (even hundred and fifty-nine, trade in, vend or fell any Ware or Piece of Cjoods, in which the Gold or Silver fhall not exceed the refpe61:ive Qiiantities aforefaid, without being fubjeit in refpe£l thereof to any Penalty for not having taken out a Licence, or paid the Duty granted by the faid Ail made in the laft SelTion of Parliament; any Thing in the faid Ail contained to the contrary notwithflanding. Penalty for not of Plate or Goods, or any Ware in which the Gold or Silver fhall be of the refpedlive Weights herein after mentioned, or of any greater Weight, and by all Pawnbrokers trading in, vending or felling Gold or Silver Plate, or any Goods or Wares in which any Gold or Silver is or fhall be manufactured, and all Refiners of Gold or Silver. III. And be it further enafled by the Authority aforefaid. That from and after the faid fifth Day of yiily one thoufand feven hundred and fifty- nine, no Perfon or Perfons whatfoever, who now or at any Time or Times hereafter, doth, do or fhall trade in, vend or fell any Gold or Silver Plate, or any Goods or Wares in which any Gold or Silver is or fhall be manufaifured, fhall prefume by him, her or themfelves, or by any other Pcrfon or Perfons whatfoever employed by him, her or thein, for his, her or their Benefit, either publickly or privately, to trade in, vend or fell any Piece of Plate or Goods, or any Ware in which the Quantity of Gold fhall be of the Weight of two Ounces or upwards, or in which the Quantity of Silver fhall be of the Weight of thirty Ounces or upwards, unlefs he, flie or they fhall have firft paid a Duty of five Poimds for a Licence, which fhall have been taken out in the Manner required by the faid A61 made in the laft SefTion of Parliament ; and every Pcrfon who fhall fo trade in, vend or fell any fuch Piece of Plate or Goods, or Ware as aforefaid, fhall pay the like Duty of five Pounds for every Licence which fhall be taken out in each Year, in purfuance of the faid A<5f, inftcad and in lieu of the Duty of forty Shillings thereby granted ; any Thing in the f;nd A61: contained to the contrary notwithftanding : And if any t»^:n6 out luch Licence, p^^j-Q,^ or Perfous trading in, vending or felling Gold or Silver Plate, or any Goods or Wares ia which any Gold or Silver is or fhall be manufacfured, fhall after the faid fifth Day of July one thoufand feven hundred and fifty-nine prefume or offer to trade in, vend or fell any fuch Piece of* Platc^ or Goods, or any fuch Ware as aforefaid, without firft taking out a Licence, for which the faid Duty of five Pounds fhall have been paid, and renewing the fame Licence, and making the like Payment yearly as aforefiid, he, flie or they fhall refpeilively forfeit and lofe, for every fuch , OfFc-nce, the Sum of twenty Pounds. IV. And be it further enadlcd by the Authority aforefaid. That from and after the faid fifth Day, of y.v/y one thoufand feven hundied and fifty-nine, no Pawnbroker or Pawnbrokers fhall prefume,.. by him, her or themfelves, or by any other Perfon or Perfons whatfoever imployed by him, her or, them, fur his, her or their Benefit, either publickly or privately, to trade in, vend or fell any Gold, or Silver Plate, or any Goods or Wares in which any Gold or Silver is or fhall be manufadlured ; , nor fhall any Perfon or Perfons prefume, either by him, her or themfelves, or by any other Perfoa or Perfons whatfoever imploved by him, her or them, for his, her or their Benefit, to ufe or praf^ife the Trade or Bufinefs of a Refiner of Gold or Silver, without firft taking out a Licence, in fuch Manner as Perfons ufing the Trade of felling or vending Gold or Silver Plate are, by the faid Adt made in the laft SefTion of Parliament, required to take out Licences; and every fuch Pawnbroker, and alfo every fuch Refiner of Gold or Silver, fhall take out a frefh Licence in every Year, in fuch Manner as Perfons ufmg the Trade of felling or vending Gold or Silver Plate arc by the faid A£l required to do : And for the more cfFeffual intorcing the taking out of the faid Licences, and Reco- vc.y of the Duty herein after directed to be from time to time paid upon the taking out thereof, every fuch Pawnbroker and Refiner of Gold or Silver refpeifively fhall be deemed, for the Pur- pofcs of this A6f, to ufe the Trade of felling or vending (.iold or Silver Plate; any Thing in the faid former Act contained to the contrary notwithftanding : And every fuch Pawnbroker as afore- faid, and alfo every fuch Refiner of Gold or Silver, fhall rcfpcdlively pay a Duty of five Pounds for every I>icence which fliati be taken out by each fuch Pawnbroker or Refiner ; and which faid.
