Harlen x Harlan

@EncycloPetey: It seems that J. H. Bretz liked playing with his first and middle name. I originally chose the version with "Harlan" following the information from the Wikipedia article that "The county's birth registry recorded his name as Harlan J Bretz at birth", and also his obituary in N. Y. Times where he is called "Jerry Harlan Bretz".

Could Billinghurst, who is skilled in searching in genealogical documents, check the birth registry, please? --Jan Kameníček (talk) 17:42, 22 January 2024 (UTC)

I checked the databases listed through Wikidata, including ISNI, which uses Harlen. In general, international database forms are preferred, whatever the research at Wikpedia might have turned up. --EncycloPetey (talk) 17:44, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
