COLUMBUS, a city of Indiana, the county-seat of Bartholomew co. It is on the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis, and the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis railroads, and on the White river. It is an important manufacturing city. Among the industries are the making of tanned leather, threshing and saw-mill machinery, gasoline engines, flour, furniture, etc. Pop. (1910) 8,813; (1920) 8,990.
