דמאי, דמי m. (דמי) suspicion, talk, whence (cmp. דומה, שתוקי) D'smai, fruits about which there is a suspicion as tto the tithes therefrom being properly taken, opp. ודאי. Y. Maas. Sh. V, end, 56d [read] תיקן דמי דמאי תיקן לא דמי D'mai means, There is a talk that he has given the tithes, there is a talk that he has not; Y. Sot. IX, 24b top תיקן לא ומי (read דמי). Y. Dem. II, 22a top; Y. Shek. V, 48d top דמיין ארימתון have you set apart what is due of them (the barley) according to the law of D'mai?-- Dem. I, 1. Ib. 3 הד׳ מן פטור is exempt from the law of D'mai (no tithes required of them on account of doubt); a. fr. --D'mai, name of a treatise of Mfishnah, ׳Tosefta a. P'rushalmli of the Order of Z'raim. דמדום, דימ׳ m., pl. דמדומין, די׳ (דמם) stand-still, stillness; חמה דמדומי the timme in the mormning and the evening when the sun appears to stand still or be silent (cmp. Yoma 20b), dawn and sunset. Sabb. 118b; Ber. 29b; a. fr. Y. Pes. V, beg. 31c החמה ד׳ sunset.

דמות f. (b. h.; דמי) resemblance, image, esp. man's divine image (Gen. I, 26). Yeb. 63b הד׳ ממעט כאילו as though he diminished the divine image (by neglecting the propagation of man). Num. R. s. 19 של גבורה ד׳ מדמין וכ׳ מעלה they compare the appearance of Divinity to the shape of man; a. fr. -- Pl, דמויות. Pesik.
