GAUTHEROT, CLAUDE, born in Paris in 1769, died in 1825. History and portrait painter, pupil of David; acquired great perfection in the representation of pathetic subjects. GAVAGNIN, LEONARDO, born in Venice in 1809. History painter, pupil of Venice Academy under Politi, formed himself after the great Venetian masters, and became professor at the Collegio Raffaele, Venice.
