July 30, 1787, and succeeded his father, 1844. Educated at Westminster and at Trinity College, Cambridge (M.A. 1808) ; was sum- moned to the House of Peers in his father's barony of Lowther 1841. Sat as M.P. for Cockermouth 180113, for Westmoreland 181331, for Dunwich 1831, and for Westmore- land 18H2 41.
