Bundelcund. An American statesman; b. at Westminster, Vt ; after being ad- mitted to the bar, he removed to New Hampshire, and was so successful as a lawyer and as an editor, that he was elected to Congress for three terms of service, 1839-45; was Commissioner of Patents, 1845-47 ; m 1850, he returned to Newport, which had been his princi- pal place of residence m New Hamp- shire, resumed the practice of his pro- fession, and engaged to a considerable extent in literary pursuits. In his lat- est years, his greatest happiness was in the reading of literary works, and in col- lecting rare works for his library.
