Prayer for Monday Morning .

humility of heart, our imperfect prayer in that most

perfect form which Thou thyself hast taught. Our Father, &c.

Monday Morning.

TO Thee, O Lord Jesus, Thou eternal God of heaven and earth, "in whom all the fulness of the Godhead dwells bodily," belong mercies and forgiveness; though we have rebelled against Thee, and have not obeyed thy Word and commandments; yet, feeling that Thou, O Lord, art ever near, waiting to be gracious, ready to bless those who call upon Thee in prayer and supplication, we now approach with reverence thy Divine Majesty, to offer up to Thee our morning sacrifice of prayer and praise. Gracious Father! we thank Thee for all those mercies, both temporal and spiritual, which Thou hast in abundance granted to us, thy people. O teach us the truths of thy Word; unfold their eternal realities to our view; and grant that this day, by a faithful obedience to thy will, may draw us nearer to Thee, and open up in our souls a new day or state in the regenerate life. "Guide us, O thou great Jehovah," through all our journey of time: so shall eternity find us in a sweet union with Thee. Happy, thrice happy are they who have the God of Jacob for their help, whose hope is in Thee, the Creator of heaven and earth; who keepeth and dispenseth truth for ever; who executeth judgment for the oppressed; who giveth food to the hungry; who openeth the eyes of the blind; and whose every word or touch giveth life, and joy, and everlasting peace.
