Keep us, we beseech Thee, through this day, in the path of duty. May mercy and truth meet together in our souls, so shall righteousness and peace kiss each other, causing truth to enlighten our minds, and righteousness to smile upon our path.

Monday Evening.

O LORD JESUS CHRIST! again, under thy providence and care, do we approach thy throne of mercy, to offer our feeble breath of praise, as an evening sacrifice to Thee, the universal Giver of all good. We thank Thee for thy guidance and protection through this day, and in full confidence of thy never-failing mercy, we depend alone on Thee for all we desire, both in time and eternity. Divine Instructor! O teach us "so to number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom." May we be faithful in exercising our affections and thoughts on the joys and pleasures of thy kingdom. Teach us to examine with care our inward states of love and faith, that so thy precepts of truth may not be as cold speculations in our memory, but as the wisdom of life, raised into our best affections to warm and bless us for ever.

God of mercy! Thou who hearest and answerest prayer, grant us thy peace. Strengthen us to fight the good fight of faith, that, by a faithful application of thy truth to our life and practice, we may finally conquer those internal impurities of will and thought, which, as Thou hast taught us, are the foes of our own household and the inward enemies of our peace.
