of the bread of life, we have drank of the streams of that river which eternally flow from thy Word, and we have tasted and seen that Thou, O Lord Jesus, art the Good Shepherd who careth for and feedeth thy flock. May thy blessing and protection rest upon each of us through this night; and mercifully grant, that thy guardian angels, those ministering spirits for good, may safely protect from danger those who sleep in Thee! O God, cause us to hear thy voice in the morning; so shall we know that "day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge." Every affection of love to Thee is daylight to our souls, and every ray of knowledge a morning star that assists to guide our souls to Thee. Dismiss us now with thy blessing; protect us, we beseech Thee, through the night season.

O LORD JESUS CHRIST! our Heavenly Father, our merciful Saviour and friend, we thank Thee for thy watchful providence in preserving us through the past night of refreshing sleep, and in bringing us by thy grace to experience the joy that cometh in the morning. O grant, that by keeping our affections fixed on Thee, we may so ardently love those pure and holy things of thy kingdom, as not to mingle them with any unclean desires of our hearts, or suffer the pearls of wisdom and heavenly truth to be trampled on by the filthy love of worldly sensuality and uncleanness.
