May this, our morning sacrifice, prove to be thy time in us, so shall we eat that which is good, and our souls delight themselves in fatness.

Monday Evening.

O GOD of heaven, our merciful Father, Redeemer, and Saviour, we once more assemble at the appointed time of evening prayer, to thank Thee for that Providence with which thou hast watched over us through this day! We humbly beseech Thee to "order our steps in thy Word, and let not any iniquity have dominion over us." Give us thankful hearts to remember thy mercies, and to praise Thee, the universal Giver, for all thy matchless gifts.

We implore Thee to forgive our wanderings, and to grant thy merciful protection in all those states of trial and temptation, through which, in our strugglings to gain the land of promise, we may be called to pass. It is good to give thanks unto Thee, for thankfulness enlarges our hearts and enables us to receive more abundantly of thy blessings! May a pure celestial love of Thee, and a spiritual love of each other, so imbue our affections, that our minds may become thy house and dwelling-place, and the truths of Thy Word become flourishing in our lives! Then, O Lord, shall we realize in ourselves the fulfilment of this thy precious promise—"Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God." May we experience thy Fatherly protection and providence through this night's repose, and grant that the morning's light may find
