that dwellest between the cherubim, shine forth. O Thou that upholdest all that fall, and raisest up those that he bowed down, grant us thy peace. Blot out. O Lord, as a thick cloud, our transgressions, and dispel, as a morning cloud, our sins; and grant that we may be made children of the light and of the day, that so we may faithfully walk in thy precepts for ever. Gracious Father, as Thou didst mercifully condescend to go before the Israelites of old, and didst guide them by the pillar of a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night; so be pleased to go before us in all our journey of life, and by thy Holy Word—this sacred cloudy and fiery Pillar—in which Thou art essentially present, lead us safely through the winding paths of temptation and conflict, and bring us to the heavenly Canaan of eternal peace. Pour, we bescech Thee, into the souls of those thy servants who are in states of bodily or mental suffering, the healthful spirit of thy grace. Bless and strengthen them under their afflictions; and teach them the consoling truth that bodily death is but the gate of life—the appointed means of entering the heavens of supreme felicity.
Hear, O Lord, from thy dwelling-place—the throne of thy glory,—the prayers and supplications of thy servants, and grant to this house, and to all therein, thy blessing and protection. Raise us above the grovelling spirit of this world, that we may receive thy Spirit, and be fashioned into thy divine image and likeness.
"O Lord, bless and keep us; make thy face to shine upon us, and be gracious unto us. O lift up the light of thy countenance upon us, and give us peace."
