Tuesday Evening.

ALMIGHTY LORD GOD and Saviour Jesus Christ; the Father of mercies, the Giver of all good, the Creator and Preserver of the world; we approach thee this night, to offer up with thankful and humble hearts, the gratitude we owe for all those unmerited blessings which Thou, in the plenitude of thy love, hast through this day heaped upon our unworthy heads. God of heaven, we beseech thee to bless us thy people, and to grant, what we earnestly desire, that our hearts may be open to receive the healthful spirit of thy grace. May our souls be more and more drawn into conjunction with thee. May thy love and truth so operate upon us and in us, that our affections may become heavenly and our thoughts true. O impress our minds with that cheering truth which Thou hast taught us in thy Word, that the sacrifices of God are those aspirations of prayer and praise that flow freely from the broken spirit and the contrite heart; these, most merciful Father, thou wilt not despise.

Help us, O Lord, to sacrifice, to dedicate, and consecrate our best affections to Thee: thus shall we feel the blessedness of those who spiritually offer on thine altar that which Thou hast commanded—a lamb day by day continually. Impressed as we are with our nothingness, with our rebellion and unworthiness, and that we have often forsaken Thee, the Fountain of living waters, and fabricated to ourselves those unhallowed principles of mind which thy Word designates as broken cisterns which hold no water; yet,
