Marchess ok Ormonde [I.]), became, on his death, s.p. 10 Aug. 1S20, (as also the Irish Marquessate) exlinct.( b ) See "Ormonde," Earldom of [I.] (") It seems probable that the Barony meant was that of " Butler of Lanthany " [n: 1660) which was vested in his Father ; and, had the writ been addressed "Thom;e liutler " [only], such Barony doubtless it would have been ; but the writ is " TboQUB Butlev it Moarc Purke," creating, accordingly, a new Barony. The words "' dc Moore Park " arc put, somewhat misleadingly (inasmuch as they exist in the writ), by Dug- dale (in his "Summons," p. 667) within brackets. This course he apparently adopts to shew that thti Barony is styled " Butler " and not " Moore PaRK." Accordingly "dc Truro" is there put within brackets after "Roberts,"" dc Cherbury" after " Herbert," ic, while, on the other hand, " Carey de Hunsdan," and "Roper de TernY-im," are written without brackets, inasmuch as the style of these Baronies is " Hunsdon" and " Tenham," not " Carey " and "Koper." ( b ) The Peerage in the United Kingdom conferred- 17 July 1821, on his bv. and Successor in the Irish Earldom was Baron Ormonde of l.antbony, co. Monmouth, Which br. also, on 25 Oct. 1825 was cr. Marquess of Ormonde [I.] H
