He m. before 1334, at which date she was aged 30, Joan, 1st sister and coheir of John, Lord Multon (who (/., s.p., 1334), da. of Thomas (de Mdlton), Lord Multon, both of Egremont in Cumberland. He d. 1328. lnq, pott martm, 1$ July 1528. His widow, in 1338, had for her share the Castle of Egremont and a third of the manor thereof. She d. 1363, having survived her son. III. 1328. 3. Jonx (Fitz-Walter), Lord Fitz-Walter, s. and h., aged 13 and upwards, at his father's death. He was sum. to Pari, from 3 March (1340/1), 15 Ed. Ill, to 20 Nov. (1360), 34 Ed. III. He was in the French wars and was knighted before Paris in 1360. He m. before 1340, Eleanor, da. of Henry (Perot), Lord Percy, by Idonea, da. of Robert (de Clifford), Lord Clifford. He d. 18 Oct. 1361. Inq. post mortem, 13 Jan. (1360/1), 35 Ed III. His wife (or widow) appears to have been dead before May, 1368.(°) IV. 1361, 4. Walter (Fitz-Walter), Lord Fitz-Walter, s. and h., aged 16 in Michaelmas 1361 and aged 19 at the death of hia grandmother abovenamed. He was sum. to Pari, from 6 April (1369), 43 Ed. III., to 3 Sep. (1385), 9 Rio. 11.(0 He was taken prisoner, in 1370, in the war with Gascony, whereby he had to mortgage his castle of Egremont for £1,000. He served also against Spain and was considered " one of the most expert soldiers in this realm."(s) He was of great service, in 1381, in helping to suppress the rebellion in Essex. He m. secondly Philippa, 1st da. and coheir of John (de Mohdn), Lord Mohun de Donster, by Joane. da. of Bartholomew (de Burghersh), Lord Burqhersh. He d. Sep. 1386. His widow who " must have been born as early aa (") This Walter was s. and h. of Robert Fits Walter, "Marshal of the army o£ God and Holy Church," the foremost among the 25 Barons to enforce the "Magna Charta," who was slain at the siege of Damiotta in 1234. (<*) He alienated in 1275, Barnard's Castle (called " The Castle of London ") which (together with the Barony of Dunraow) had been conferred by King Henry I., on his ancestor, Robert Fitz Richard (5th s. of Richard Fitz Gilbert, ancestors of the Earls of Clare), which Robert was grandfather of the famous Robert Fitz Walter (see note "a," supra) hia own grandfather. The rights pertaining to that Castle (vis., that of Banner Bearer to the city of London) as " Constable of the Castle of London," he retained for himself and his posterity. (o) In the very minute will (of that date) of her brother, Thomas Percy, Bishop of Norwich, no mention is made of her. (!)
