I 17S3 Northumberland, 2d s. of Francis Blake D., by Rhoda, da. of Robert 1 ' ArREECE, of Washinglcy, co. Huntingdon, b. 1728, was cr. a Bart, as Barony. above, 1 July 1761. He was M.P. for Berwick in several Tarls. By j , 7C ,p the death, 7 Aug. 1771 (in his 4Sth year), of his eldest br. Sir Francis I, Kob, Blake Delaval, K.B., he sue. to the family estates. Having supported to "the coalition Ministry," he was, 17 Oct. 1783, cr. BARON DELAVAL 180S. OF BEDFORD,!' 1 ) co. Wicklow [I.], but, soon afterwards changing sides, he was by Pitfs Ministry, cr., 21 Aug. 1786, BARON DELAVAL OF SEATON DELAVAL,(°) co. Northumberland [G.B.] He m. firstly, 2 April 1750, at Duke Street Chapel, Westm., his first cousin, Susanna, widow of John POTTER, Under Sec. of State, da. of R Robinson, by Margaret, da. of Edward Delaval and sister of F. B. D. above named. She d. 1 and was WW. 11 Oct. 1783, in Westm. Abbey. He m. secondly, 5 Jany. 1803, at Earsdon, co. Northumberland, Susanna Elizabeth Knight, Spinster. He d. s.p.m.s.,( r ) at Seatou Delaval, 17 May and was (") This Duke was beheaded 2 May 1450, having been accused of treason by the Commons and banished by the King, but was never attainted. These " same wits " also, " composed a poem called The Delaval-iad parodied from Orlando's verses to Rosalind in As you like it, but Lord Delaval stood in no awo of Buch lampoons." His " person, at 70 years of age remained graceful and slender, his manners, elegant, gay and pleasing." ibid. O By his 1st wife (only), he had issue one son, John, who d. v.p , 1755, and four daughters, his coheirs, of whom Elizabeth was Baroness Audley, and Sarah, Countess of Tyrcounel [I.] To Lady Tyrcounel's only da. and h. Susanna, Marchioness of Waterford [I.], he devised (on the death of his widow) all his estates.
