The ʃ is the integral sign or an IPA symbol. The character you're seeing in the text is a long-s or " ſ ⁠". Although it may resemble the IPA symbol, that is because it is in a cursive / italicized font. We don't reproduce font styles, just the text. --EncycloPetey (talk) 08:58, 18 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
