Copyright edit

Please note that your recent additions (e.g. Letter to Father will be deleted unless a copyright statement is included. All works hosted here on en.ws must be in the public domain. Please provide a copyright statement. See Help:Copyright tags for more information. --EncycloPetey (talk) 22:09, 15 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi EncycloPetey, Author:Bhagat Singh died in the year of 1931 and the copyright statement is already present here. I thought that was sufficient. But after your message, I have provided copyright statements in each additions by me. Please check if everything is OK. Thanks for the rectification. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 08:45, 16 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
The year of an author's death isn't the only factor to consider. Some works are published after the author's death, and so may continue to be in copyright. Also, some works have their copyrights renewed, or are published in a country where the rule is longer. For those and other reasons, each work available on Wikisource bears an individual statement of copyright. --EncycloPetey (talk) 18:37, 16 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi EncycloPetey, thanks again for the reply. I have provided the date and/or year of publication at header sections of each of the pages. Please check if everything is OK. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 22:16, 16 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Page numbering edit

Index:An_Introduction_to_the_Grammar_of_Tibetan_Language_with_the_texts_of_Situhi-Sum-rTags,_Dag-je_Sal-wai_Me-long_and_Situhi_Shal-lun.djvu Can you check the page numbering, I'm not sure I've decoded the Tibetan(?) numerals correctly. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 20:21, 29 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi ShakespeareFan00, I have corrected the page numbering. I think its ok now. Thanks for your help. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 20:48, 29 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Bengali Wikisource edit

Are you active in Bengali Wikisource? The SavifaDok Collections of the University of Heidelberg website lists 116 digitized books which can be uploaded to Bengali Wikisource. Solomon7968 (talk) 10:38, 7 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Solomon7968: - Thanks for the link. I will start to upload the books as soon as possible. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 10:48, 7 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes I mentioned it to User talk:Jayantanth first. Also ping Hrishikes in case it is of interest to them. Solomon7968 (talk) 10:52, 7 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Solomon7968:, Of course, I will ping both of them, I checked the files, some of the books are already uploaded from DLI and WBPLN. I will filter and upload the rest of them accordingly. Thanks. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 10:58, 7 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wikiradio edit

Years ago, I was involved in a somewhat abortive attempt to get 'free-content' broadcasting going. That attempt was Wikicast, which died due to a lack of interest. However, if you were willing to lobby for the technology used in Wikiradio, to stream other 'free' content, like Librivox (hint). Then I would be really interested in seeing it or v:Wiki Campus Radio being ressurected. Over on Wikiversity the October 31st special that was scheduled one year is possibly still archived.

Satyanusaran edit

According to the page notes, the original work was published in 1910. For books published prior to 1923, the date of the author's death is immaterial for determining copyright status in the US, because US copyright law considers all works published prior to 1923 to be PD.

Although the translation was published in 1950, and might still be under copyright, works originally published in that period must have had their copyright renewed in the US, or else they are now in PD. In this case, the copyright was not renewed in the US, so the translation is also in PD. --EncycloPetey (talk) 23:22, 13 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

@EncycloPetey: Translation was published in India by the author's religious order (see here), and was not PD-India on URAA date. Hrishikes (talk) 01:03, 14 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

I would recommend taking this discussion to Wikisource:Copyright discussions. This issue does not appear to be as straightforward as it initially appeared. --EncycloPetey (talk) 01:18, 14 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Did you check for renewals, URAA.? One of the authors/editors was still seemingly alive in 1993. :)ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 10:56, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

@ShakespeareFan00:, Oh, ok, Please feel free to delete the file. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 13:05, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Index:Cycling In Bengal.djvu edit

When did the author die? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 09:21, 30 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

@ShakespeareFan00:, I just noticed that the book was uploaded earlier. Please delete the new index. I am trying to get the date of death of the author, but still no luck. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 11:53, 30 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Index:The Musnud of Murshidabad (1704 - 1904).djvu edit

This is clearly a pre 1923 publication, but I've not been able to find any biograpahical detail to add an Author page. Any thoughts on where to look? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 07:21, 30 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

@ShakespeareFan00:, I also couldn't find any details about the author, except he was from the town of Murshidabad. Pinging @Hrishikes: da for help. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 17:39, 30 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, Author page added, you might want to improve it. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 18:39, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Author:Hanumān edit

The Hindu god is the author of the work? We haven't created Author pages for any other works ascribed to deities. --EncycloPetey (talk) 05:16, 29 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

@EncycloPetey:, I was super confused about what to do with the author page. Please correct or delete it and do the needful. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 05:20, 29 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
In these situations, we create a Portal page instead of an Author. I'll move the page, and clean up any links. This is also what we do for organizations as authors, or people like Socrates, for who all "works" were actually recorded by other authors. --EncycloPetey (talk) 05:22, 29 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for fixing. I will keep this in mind for my future uploads. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 05:40, 29 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
