Edits to CIA World Fact Book, 2004/Turkey

Hi Haktann and welcome to Wikisource.

I have reverted the change you made to CIA World Fact Book, 2004/Turkey. On Wikisource we transcribe previously published works as they are, unlike Wikipedia where editors write a new encyclopedia article using the best and most up to date sources. This means that in this case, the page has to reflect the population number the CIA published in 2004 regardless of what the actual population was or what other sources say it was.

I have put some links up above in our standard welcome message for new users that will hopefully be of help to get familiar with the project.

PS. I see that your username appears to be your real name, and that you give your approximate location on your user page. This is generally not recommended and may put you at risk of harassment. Unless you are certain that you wish to edit under your real name I would recommend that you request a global account rename at m:Steward requests/Username changes. I would recommend picking a username that is not connected to you in any way. You can check whether the username you want is available using this tool.

I would also not recommend revealing any personal information on your user page (or anywhere else on the project). Age, location, real name, where you work or go to school, etc. could all be abused by someone with bad intentions. If you would like to remove that information please let me know and we can request it be permanently removed (if you just edit the page the old version will still be visible in the revision history, so we have a special process for permanently removing such informatioon). --Xover (talk) 20:26, 28 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi Haktann,

Don't worry about any editing mistakes. We all make mistakes when we're new and one of the nice things about a Wiki is that most mistakes are really easy to fix.

I see a Steward has completed the rename of your account. I have also deleted your user page (you can make a new one if you want), and hidden the old username from the previous versions of this talk page. Please take a look here and on the other projects where you have edited to check that all the information that you do not want to be public is removed or hidden. --Xover (talk) 10:58, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
