Having a quick look at Index:A history of Chile.djvu it is nice, however, you are over-engineering your pages. Not only will you get coding burn-out, you will also be imposing your presentation and styles onto users who may want their own. Our approach is that the word is king, though we don't get bound up by the typographic components. For example how we handle hyphenation, generally we would remove it all, except where it ends a page. See Side by side proofreading. I have converted one of the contents page to a table, with a noinclude ending, so we can join it up with the next page (would give it noinclude start and end) when transcluded. It is all a little fiddly, however, we have sort of work it out quite nicely now on how to get these content pages working well. Often they are the trickiest part of the books. Our biggest learning is to keep it simple, as we cannot predict every browser configuration and output, so not even try. Also to not get bound by how the book was produced, we need to display in our medium, not the restrictions of a book. — billinghurst sDrewth 01:28, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

The mysterious Header toggle button

When proofreading in the Page: namespace and one has their toolbar turned on [Gadgets | Editing (tab) | Editing toolbar (checkbox)], one will see the button , and clicking it toggles the header/footer on and off. In this space we put the relevant components for top and bottoms of pages by use of the template {{RunningHeader}}, so for example {{RunningHeader|Stanhope|3|Stanhope}} produces

I personally have my header/footer set to open in the Page: namespace and I achieved this by activating that option in my Gadgets. — billinghurst sDrewth 01:00, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
