Template:Locked edit

Hi, I noticed you've added the locked template to all the protected pages, thanks for that. Is there a reason for placing this at the bottom of the page as I'd have thought that the top would be a better place for it. AllanHainey 07:21, 10 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I suppose it doesn't matter I'd just thought that its better to let folk know right off whether a text can be edited or not. AllanHainey 06:59, 12 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Redirects edit

Hi. Sorry about the rush to clean up some of the uncategorized. I agree fully taht certain names should be kept, particularly those with diacritics. As for the Popes, both form of the name appeared and I tried to be consistent, in keeping with the WP format. Perhaps I was too hasty with that. Danny 11:01, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Annon. changes to Aesop's Fables-5 edit

Hi. Thanks for doing all those authors. I noticed an annon. change to Aesop's Fables-5. Since you've been doing the work on getting these set up, I'd thought I'd let you decide on reverting it or not. - illy 14:03, 17 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, I see you already got it. :-) - illy 14:05, 17 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Judah Halevi edit

I was only following Dovi's lead. It's what he listed in the template field. You can see his comments on my talk page. I'll go ahead and add it under H also. - illy 19:10, 18 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

EB1911 Editing edit

Thanks for the message on proofreading you posted on my talk page. I found the scanned pages after I input the message.

New question:I was updating the alphabetical index. I wouldn't mind confirming that this is the right thing to do. I'd hate to do the effort and find out it was already available elsewhere. I noticed something from Apwoolrich on the top of this page on volume indices. If you could glance at 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica/Vol 1:8 and let me know I'm following the current plan, I'd appreciate it! Banjee ca 20:11, 20 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Username change edit

I hope you're the right person to ask. Could you change my user name from User:Ianbrown to User:I@n please? Thanks -- Ianbrown 06:01, 30 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I just had this temporarily undeleted so I could grab a copy because it was the only copy on the internet, and I hadn't thought to save a copy of it. It several days effort for me to type in and proof, and finding it gone without any form of note at all was a bit of a shock. You might want to bear this in mind in future when deleting things that Wikisource no longer wants, but that are nontheless not available elsewhere. Morwen 14:10, 31 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've had User:Danny undelete it temporarily on IRC, so I've got that one. I'm wondering how many more things are in this situation: I know Local Government Act 1972 was also done by me typing it in, but it wasn't very complete - if I could get the wikitext for that one it would be good as well. The original discussion that I've found seemed to be (wrongly) assuming all these were copy and pastes from the government's OPSI website and therefore deleting them would be no big deal. Morwen 14:26, 31 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, grabbed. Safe to delete again! Morwen 14:29, 31 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

An odd edit edit

I reverted this edit because I think you did not mean to kill that template. I tend to use that and I don't think I subst: it so such a change would give some odd results.--BirgitteSB 02:50, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Emma edit

Emma - Volume 3, Chapter 7 contains the sentence "who, she is pleased to say, am very entertaining already", which seems to be ungrammatical. Is it correct? lethe 11:50, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't know. Probably not. I don't have a copy of the book at my home, so I can't cross-check it. When it gets proofread by users, we'll find that (potential) error, and correct it. Of course, you're always welcome to go looking for a copy to double-check it, as well.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 12:49, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
I didn't find any centralized location to ask for that particular sentence to be proofread.
For future reference, a WikiProject was just started by BirgitteSB dedicated to proofreading. Information about it can be found here.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 13:21, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tweak to your javascript file edit

Hello Zhaladshar. Note that I tweaked your javascript file to correct glitch-categorisation to the category "Author-\\n", which was the subject of a deletion proposal ("Category:Authors-\\n", June 2006 archives). Part of the function addAuthorTemplateLink() was parsed on the page, leading to the categorisation; I added <nowiki> tags to correct this. Please contact me if this causes any functionality problems, and I apologize for any inconvenience if that occurs. // [admin] Pathoschild (talk/map) 16:52, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

CommonsTicker edit

Hi - I have configured the bot and did a test run - look at Wikisource:CommonsTicker. All I need now is your final confirmation to start the bot for real :) -- de:Benutzer:Duesentrieb 20:46, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

PS: i'll be on irc for a few more hours -- de:Benutzer:Duesentrieb 20:50, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

A Treatise on Electricity and Magnetism edit

You asked my why I decided to seperate the text by pages and why I repeat the word PREFACE over and over. The separation is neccessary to link back to the original (scannned) pages of this document, because it makes proof-reading a lot easyer. The word PREFACE only repeates over and over in this pre-chapter of the document. On later pages this headline is needed for navigation from the Index, so I decided to show all pages exactly like they appear in the original document. Red Rooster 19:06, 6 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Treatise edit

I've been helping Red Rooster with setting up A Treatise on Electricity and Magnetism. He's just using the breaks to link the scanned pages for proof reading. They'll be removed once the proof reading will be done, at least I believe that's his plan. :-) - illy 19:06, 6 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

In future, if you will delete my contributions edit

In future, if you will delete my contributions, please make a more reasonable attempt to contact me before determining consensus, especially given that my wikipedia page is listed on my wikisource page, and my e-mail is registered in the system. (reference to the Baha'i texts from the Baha'i Library). All of the texts mentioned there, except for one, can be sourced from public domain sources. It's a small courtesy given the hours and hours that went into formatting them. Thank you. --Christian Edward Gruber 16:02, 9 June 2006 (UTC) (en.wikipedia.org talk page)Reply

Just re-thinking this comment, and realizing that the tone is other than I would have preferred to write. It was not intended personally, but merely came out of a frustration that I missed the boat here. Please forgive the tone and take from it no personal animus. --Christian Edward Gruber 16:52, 9 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Zhaladshar. Don't worry about it - Birgitte already temporarily restored them so I could back-up the content. In the mean-time, Jeff3000 and I are looking into it. If and when we restore them, we'll do so with better sourcing and GFDL-compatibility, and will ping you and/or Birgitte to validate. Cheers. -- 209.222.54.37 23:38, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Requesting a username change. edit

Greetings! I'm an admin on Wikipedia, and have recently changed my username there to counter the trend of disruptors digging for personal info on admins. I'd like to make the same change here - can you change me to User:BD2412? Cheers! BD2412 T 21:56, 9 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: Regex edit

Actually, this is very possible. The version of AutoWikiBrowser that I'm running (slightly tweaked to suit Xenophon and Wikisource, which the original AutoWikiBrowser doesn't support at the minute) has the ability to convert HTML characters into Unicode. I'm currently doing Emily Dickinson poems, so I've started it up in the background. It'll skip any articles that it doesn't make changes to--and you can see the ones it does change here, marked with "converting HTML characters to Unicode". Presidential Radio Addresses edit

Hi. Just wanted to point out that we have over 600 of these. I am more than willing to start working on them (headers, categories, etc.), but would like to know how you envision setting them up. Thanks Danny 14:20, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Source for Grimm tales edit

Hi, I was just wondering how old your source for the fairy tales was? I ask because the recent prints are getting very politically correct. Garrie Irons 58.107.76.253 10:35, 20 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

They would have been older texts, since I got them from Gutenberg. They were probably all 1923 versions. I believe at this time, they didn't care about political correctness in the fairy tales.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 13:02, 20 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

CommonsTicker: new version to fix some problems edit

e replication lag we currently see on the toolserver (it's more than a day behind). While I hope this will not happen again in the future, I have been working on improving CommonsTicker so it handles out-of-sync entries gracefully.

I plan to activate a new version of CommonsTicker tonight or tomorrow - so look out for any new problems. Here are the most relevant changes:

  • fix handling of out-of-sync records (see above); added "latecomer" parameter to TickerEntry template (may be ignored)

id=377144 like this]. ikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User%3ADuesentrieb%2FCommonsTicker&diff=377180&oldid=377144 here] for an example that strikes out the entry if status is set to "done".

For the future, I'm planning to let CommonsTicker post warnings to the talk page of articles that use an image das is (about to be) deleted. I'll post another announcement when that feature is ready.
