Backlog cleared?

Archiving? and annoying spambot

I'm trying to add a comment to an archive of this page from 10 days ago, and being stopped by a spam bot. I gave up, but thought it wise to tell you here. I realise you have to keep this page to a reasonable size, but at least in my case its not helpful. I could not add this comment either to the project page so Ive posted it here. Hope its me ... User:Victuallers, Please try your edit again. It does appear that a abuse filter added earlier today has affected some of the valid edit attempts made (yours included) since its introduction inadvertently. Thanks George. In reply to @EncycloPetey - "No one will see them" ?? Then why not delete all the archives? I have had valid conversations with editors well after 10 days of the last posting. I think your "No one will see them" needs to be studied more closely as its clearly not 100% true. My attention was drawn by another editor to an archive. Your comments were made 5-6 days ago now and I have just seen them - and I think I'm a fairly frequent visitor to this project. Victuallers (talk) 08:20, 7 December 2015 (UTC)

But this page is not an archive. Archives are meant to preserve copies of old discussion in case they are needed in future for reference. They are not intended to be active areas of discussion. My point is that the Wikisource community can (and does) watch the Scriptorium. The community does not keep tabs on all the various archive pages of every previous discussion. The archives are like a filing box stuck in a warehouse; adding a note to the box makes it unlikely to be seen. --EncycloPetey (talk) 22:34, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
