Index talk:The Works of J. W. von Goethe, Volume 12.djvu

How should the index and the transclusion for this work proceed? Both works have parts as seen in the current transclusion and eventually I thought about creating a matching table of contents when the work was done being proofread, but I saw that Hesperian changed the current table of contents to be transcluded rather than a created one. I figure it would be best to discuss what to do before changing back to a created vs. transcluded TOC. MarkLSteadman (talk) 05:12, 14 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mark, I'm not sure I understand your question.
I think the way you've structured the mainspace transclusion so far is good.
As for a table of contents, I have always preferred to let the original work speak for itself where possible; so if a work doesn't contain a table of contents, then I would honour that and not attempt to "improve" upon the original work by creating one. But of course some kind of navigational structure like what you've done at The Works of J. W. von Goethe/Volume 12 is inevitable.
Having said all that, if you have other ideas then feel free to implement them; and that includes reverting me if you don't agree with what I've done at the index page. You have put a lot of time and effort into this volume, so to my mind you should have a free hand to set it up the way you want.
