NOTES

東嶽 tung¹ yü⁴ one of the five sacred mountains, the 泰山 t'ai⁴ shan¹, in the Shantung province. 墪兒 tun¹'r， a small earth moud. Each verse ends with the character 兒 eur^[1]， which gives fun to the song.
