Uploading files

These pages include a lot of special characters (Old Church Slavonic). I will transcribe them as I can, but it will take some time for me to learn where to find these special characters. So I thought I upload the pages, and then transcribe them one by one. GStojanov (talk) 17:54, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

Upload the PDF to Commons. Once you do that, the individual pages are not needed. We set up a Index page for transcription. See Index:A simplified grammar of the Swedish language.djvu for an example of an Index page that was set up for transcription. The final copy is A Simplified Grammar of the Swedish Language, and you can see that no images of pages are used. You can't move a page between different language Wikisource projects. Page content has to be copied, or someone with special rights has to transwiki the page. I don't think anyone here has transwiki rights that would allow moving the content to mk.WS, so I have made the transcription available for you at User:GStojanov/Sandbox. A source on Wikisource refers to the original text: a book in which the text was published, an official website with the text, or a document archive. Ideally, we want a scan of the original publication. What you added is a reference, and isn't really needed in the header notes. Translator: Ivan Fisher

Hi. You have added translated works and in some you cite the translator to be Ivan Fisher. Was it these translations that have been published, and if yes, when? The book is a an academic collection of historic documents and it is published the same year as the translation 1985 in Skopje, Macedonia. It doesn't have a copyright notice. I have the book. If the translation is a concern, I can do a wiki translation. GStojanov (talk) 13:08, 6 August 2019 (UTC)

Actually I have concerns over all of these uploads. The likelihood that a 1940s work is out of copyright is usually slim, as it means that the person would have to have died by 1948. Now I understand that is quite possible during the war years among the turmoil, that said we need to demonstrate that the author has died in that time, and none of your uploads have author life data to demonstrate this. That you are pulling these works from a published source may give us scope to see how the editors have classified these works, OR they may be using scome scope not available to us.

• Author:Georgi Dimitrov died in 1949, which means that in the US that it is more likely that his works are not out of copyright until 2020.

There are two types of documents in this book: public (manifestos, newspaper articles, etc...) and private (letters exchanged between politicians). They do not have any copyright notices associated with them. GStojanov (talk) 13:08, 6 August 2019 (UTC)

That they do not have copyright notices associated with them does not mean that 1) the originals do not have copyright associated with them; 2) that the translations are free from copyright as they are their own intellectual property. Our requirements are specified at Wikisource:Copyright policy, whilst a lack of a copyright statement can matter, in other cases it is irrelevant—again see the link I posted above. The law of copyright is set by national laws and international treaties, and we need to abide by these. Without evidence that the works are in the public domain for originals and translations, then we cannot host them. — billinghurst sDrewth 21:06, 6 August 2019 (UTC)

I don't know why you labelled my edits as "vandalism", but your reversion broke a bunch of stuff ranging from the interwiki linking in the header to the scan-backing required for Wikisource projects. I have therefore reverted your edit.
