Australian enquiry book of household and general information edit

I just wanted to say thanks for the heaps of proofreading and validation you're doing on "Australian enquiry book of household and general information". It's certainly a big chunk of text to proofread but you're making very light work of it. Just wanted to leave my thanks and make sure you know that it's warmly appreciated by the Wikisource community! Lankiveil (talk) 11:35, 20 July 2013 (UTC).Reply

Thanks for the feedback. I'm still learning so any suggestions gratefully received! A great project to be a part of. Jo

I have just added the template {{RunningHeader}} to the Index: page and that should now appear in the header field. A neater way than number and center. It takes three parameters, {{RunningHeader|left|centre|right}}, or {{RunningHeader|84|Cookery}} giives …

And it was a bit slack of me to not mention that you proofread well, and have good attention to detail. Noice!billinghurst sDrewth 12:48, 28 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for that. I wasn't really sure what I was supposed to do with headers. And thanks for the compliment! I enjoy the proofreading. Jo Horner (talk) 09:19, 29 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

{{nop}} is another of our formatting tools. I have used it at the end of Page:Australian enquiry book of household and general information.djvu/94, as when it is placed on a new line it acts as a placeholder for the end of the paragraph. If we don't use it, mediawiki gobbles the space and will merge the paragraphs. — billinghurst sDrewth 14:33, 1 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

I have copied some of the formatting for columns based on your validation but can't work out the correct columns for https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Page:Australian_enquiry_book_of_household_and_general_information.djvu/73 where there is a break in the text and a new heading. If the next person can validate I can use in future pages Thanks Jo Horner (talk) 05:04, 3 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Beeswaxcandle kindly drew my attention to your query here.
I have tweaked and validated the page thus. Please don't panic that there seems to be a lot of changes—I assure you what you had done already looked very good indeed to me. I hope the changes I have made meet your expectations.
Rather than trying to explain things you've probably already figured out if there is anything that still doesn't make sense (and assuming I haven't made a mistake myself!) please feel free to ask here and I shall answer best I can.

Thanks for that. Being new to this it is slowly coming together. That page looks much better now. Hope it isn't too much trouble fixing up what I started. Jo Horner (talk) 05:20, 4 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, please forgive me using you as a sample audience, but would you please be so kind as to have a look at: Index talk:Australian enquiry book of household and general information.djvu and let me know if this agrees with what you have already been doing? I do not wish in any way to criticise what you have been doing (which, by the way I consider has been quite exemplary), but rather I am hoping my description is an accurate depiction of what is expected of any future editors. Please feel free to be (horribly) critical, as I really would like to get this statement (absolutely, i.e. crystal clear) right!

Hi - it reads ok to me but please bear in mind I am only new at this and this is my first attemp at editing. I am learning by seeing what others do rather than trying to figure it out. There's a lot to learn! Jo Horner (talk) 09:25, 5 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

BTW - I should have read the advanced guide first - it's all becoming clear as I learn this new and mysterious world of wikisource! Thanks for everyone's patience! Jo Horner (talk) 10:19, 5 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
