Curly quotes
Why do the Monthly Challenge Guidelines say to not remove curly quotes? The FAQ notes that there are no special formatting rules and our style guide does recommended to use "straight" quotes in works where there are a large number of contributing editors, since consistent use of “curly” quotes may be difficult to achieve. That is obviously going to apply to works that are part of the challenge. What am I missing? Has there been some discussion on this previously? Ciridae (talk) 13:18, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Ciridae There recommendation is there mainly to save users time. If curly quotes need to be removed from a work, I usually post a bot request to do so. It's much faster that way. Languageseeker (talk) 15:09, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Languageseeker: Thanks! I think it would be a good idea to clarify that somewhere in the guidelines, FAQ or elsewhere. Also, maybe mention if other automations are available the can make editing/proofreading easy. BTW, which bot replaces the curly quotes and how do I post a request? Monthly Challenge Page Count
Hello,
Just curious, but were the recent changes to the Monthly Challenge of the form "(added Category:Monthly Challenge (February 2022) using HotCat)" the reason why the current page count is in no way indicative of the actual number of pages processed this month? I am fairly certain more that 2+4 pages were validated between the first two days of the challenge (more pages than that would have been validated for Orley Farm (v12) alone, let alone the whole challenge). The same issue seems also to have applied to the proofreading count.

- @TeysaKarlov probably the relevant indexes were not in the category. I'm planning to make it less critical for that category to be populated correctly in future to avoid glitches in the determination of the MC membership, but for this month, it seems to have been done by @Languageseeker (thanks!).
