1911 Encyclopædia Britannica edit

- Thanks for the welcome. I think mainly as a reminder to myself which pages still have kinks (mainly in formatting or for instance troublesome Greek characters) or that I've not gone through thoroughly for a final pass. Cheers! Animalparty (talk) 21:56, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
- Makes sense. The most confusing thing for me about EB1911 Greek was the upside-down breve over some of the characters, which I found was equivalent to a tilde over the character in all my fonts. And I have found that accent details can sometimes be more readily perceived using archive.org's on-line reader where the scans have better resolution than the DJVU files used on Wikisource. - And thanks from me as well. On a possible side note, it looks like maybe if we are to get a column up at the w:Wikipedia Signpost, it might have to be me to write it. I was thinking of maybe having a first "column" maybe having some comments from you and maybe @Charles Matthews: about developing here content which could at least theoretically be used fairly easily over at wikipedia. - In principle I'm interesting in the whole "merging encyclopedias" question, which was addressed years ago in w:Wikipedia:Merging encyclopedias. That page has not been seriously edited in about six years now. The advent of Wikidata has completely changed the administrative side of such projects. - Well, I've started a draft of an "interview" type format piece for the Signpost at w:User:John Carter/Wikisource column. If @Charles Matthews: or @EncycloPetey: or Animalparty or anyone else actually wants to respond to the questions, or add new ones, feel free to do so. I figure that there is a real chance that the piece will not run for at least a few weeks in the Signpost, so there probably isn't a particular rush here. That might actually be for the best, because in some regards this might be one of the first exposures some of the Signpost readers have to wikisource here, so having a few weeks to get together the most appealing piece possible is probably not to our disadvantage. Thanks for creating that WP article! Just two notes: Author pages don't get interwiki links because that's all handled through Wikidata now (and you had already put it there so thank you). I've been reminded to not categorize encyclopedia pages the way that you had as GBW already has an author page with that cat. Thanks, The Haz talk 13:18, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
Hi. Congrats on another work completed. I would encourage you to look to add A Short History of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia to the above linked template, so that your work displays on the main page. (Feel good about completed works, and let the world know!) Template:new texts/item has the full detail to use, though for most cases it is self-evident what is required. Please do use a descriptive summary as, due to the prominence of the results, this is one page we do watch heavily, and descriptive titles are most helpful. — billinghurst sDrewth 22:45, 29 April 2018 (UTC)

- The English WS account is a fairly new account. I am optimistic with time they'll get more followers. I think there is a general WS account at Facebook, but I do not believe it is active. Instagram, I am not sure. Londonjackbooks (talk) 00:30, 30 April 2018 (UTC)

Wikidata parameter edit
Hi. One shouldn't need to use the wikidata parameter independently in our respective header templates, these will be WD links will automatically created when a work/subpge,/... has its item created at Wikidata. Similarly these days, we have things set up so we don't generally need Wikipedia parameter as that is extracted from the Wikidata item where applied.
