Category:Pages needing conversion on all the film pages

Why? Is there something wrong with Template:Page? And is there a better way to show the timestamps on the transclusions than to use that template? PseudoSkull (talk) 15:44, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

@PseudoSkull: {{Page}} works but is deprecated in favor of the <pages/> tag (see Help:Transclusion#Working, though deprecated). The tag shows pages with the appropriate labels by default (see Aurora Leigh and The Tailor-Made Girl for examples). However, I've now tried using it to tranclude Daddy-Long-Legs (film), with the code

<pages index="Daddy-Long-Legs (film, 1919).webm" from=1 to=209 />

and it didn't show anything. If <pages/> doesn't work with {{Transcript}} yet, I can remove the films from Category:Pages needing conversion. Do you know if there's anywhere I can look into this that might have more detail than Help:Film?

Republic Act No. 386: an act to ordain and institute the civil code of the Philippines

Hello. I am not sure which of the two versions is better as none of them is scan backed, but the one that you suggested for deletion seems more complete than An Act to Ordain and Institute the Civil Code of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 386) and so it should imo be preferred. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 15:49, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

You are absolutely correct, and I should have checked that more carefully. An Act to Ordain and Institute the Civil Code of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 386) is better-formatted but it only has the preliminary title and Book I. Given that Republic Act No. 386: an act to ordain and institute the civil code of the Philippines has been deleted I'm not sure what the best way to fix this would be. The deleted page is available on the Internet Archive, and the act is available as a webpage and a PDF at the Official Gazette. —CalendulaAsteraceae (talk) 05:59, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

Meanwhile, the page was deleted by Beeswaxcandle, but it can be restored easily. However, if you are willing to work on a back-scanned version, we can upload the PDF to Commons and create an index page for it. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 08:50, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

There is a a potential copyright problem with this.

The film itself may potentially be out of copyright, but the score for this particular version isn't.

Also, I highly recommend for films that you use WikiProject Film's draft process, see Wikisource:WikiProject Film/Drafts. Doing it this way is much faster and much more efficient than transcribing films manually. When you complete a draft in the draft space, I can use my bot to automatically add the timestamps etc. to the Page, Index, and main namespaces. If you need help with that, let me know. A note for you; the title cards mentioning the silent film festival and restoration, which take up about the first minute of the film, are unnecessary to include in the final transcription. In fact, the restoration essay in this film is so long even it probably should be taken out of the video itself, as likely copyright infringement. So I wouldn't work on it yet if I were you, because in the end the timestamps will all have to be changed. I'll bring it up at Wikimedia Commons. PseudoSkull (talk) 19:12, 10 October 2021 (UTC)

Stripped tags on mainspace articles. (Typically a stray DIV tag at the very end.)

apostrophe in ’ALBO (1911 Encyclopædia Britannica)

Hi, I replaced the (straight) apostrophe you removed in Page:EB1911 - Volume 01.djvu/552. The apostrophe (I've used a curly one) is also in the header and is part of the name.
