Google notice edit

The Google notices at the front of scans are not transcribed on Wikisource, as they were not part of the original work. Wikimedia also maintains the position that putting a copyright on a scan of a work in public domain has no legal merit. For scans on Commons, they usually prefer that the Google notice page is stripped from the front of the file. --EncycloPetey (talk) 19:08, 11 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Likewise, call numbers, stamps, and such, that were placed into the work by a library are not part of the original work, and so are not transcribed into our copy here at Wikisource. --EncycloPetey (talk) 19:12, 11 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thoreau correspondence edit

I've cleared out the previously created blank pages, so that you can now pull up the OCR text layer of each renumbered page. Thanks for adding this work to our Thoreau project! --EncycloPetey (talk) 19:55, 11 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thoreau index additions edit

You might double-check with @EncycloPetey:, but I believe we were opting for uploads of the 1906 versions of The Writing volumes as opposed to the 1893 as listed on the Thoreau Author Talk page. Londonjackbooks (talk) 20:07, 12 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Well, yes, but in this case it's even less of a priority, since Vol. 1 duplicates his Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers, for which we have the 1849 printing. --EncycloPetey (talk) 20:12, 12 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Lewismage, you do realize that the editions of Thoreau's Writings you are uploading are all from different years (1893, 1899, 1900)? --EncycloPetey (talk) 20:45, 12 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Basic Wikisource editing edit

Please read Help:Beginner's guide to typography. Most HTML coding is not necessary, nor is it desirable for marking or breaking paragraphs. --EncycloPetey (talk) 23:52, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove headers from pages when these reproduce content in the original work. --EncycloPetey (talk) 00:05, 14 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
