running headers and paragraph breaks

Hi, let me add my own welcome to Wikisource. Just thought I'd drop you a quick note about a couple of minor things. For the running headers we've got a template {{running header|left|center|right}} that we use. The page number usually goes in the left or right fields and the page title in the center. So, for Page:When It Was Dark.djvu/23 the template {{running header||An Incident by Way of Prologue|3}} will produce:

For paragraphs that end at the bottom of a print page we add {{nop}} on its own line after the paragraph. Then we just start the next paragraph at the beginning of the next page. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 04:21, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

Been putting footprints over When It Was Dark

I have been onto When It Was Dark and been doing some revising, including some architectural.

• The community decided a while ago to move away from roman numeral chapter nomenclature for new works, and to use the format "Chapter 1, 2, 3, ... n" to get some consistency to enable intrawiki linking and better future-proofing. So I have been in and moved the existing chapters to that format, and relinked.
• {{subpage-header}} is a bit ugly, and was experimental, and never really proceeded. We should have formally deprecated it, and I have now done so. Apologies for not having had that done earlier.
• Chapter names. The numbering of chapters in book 2 and 3 will need to be considered. As you have chosen a simple sequential, that can continue, so we will need to transpose book 2, chapter 1, to be chapter 13, ... It is something that I have been doing in My Life in Two Hemispheres, and I prefer it to having to drop down another level in the page hierarchy. Action: Once that has been determined, need to fix up the chapter linking in the Table of Contents.
• The recent practice has been transcluding the early pages of works (title page, ToC, ...) of works and I have done that. I have also worked on the blurry title page, and formatted the ToC, and transcluded to the main page of the work.
• Also added and populate the author page, and linked through to Wikidata.

I have sequentially numbered the chapters, and we can look to do redirects from something like Book 2/Chapter 1 to Chapter 13 when needed. — billinghurst sDrewth 10:16, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Subpage redirects

We don't use subpage redirects. If you come across old subpages, that have been moved or replaced, just tag them for speedy deletion. Only the primary (base) page of a work should get redirects. --EncycloPetey (talk) 20:47, 3 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi, Under which portal can we classify this book? Christianity or Judaism. Since the work is completely validated, I believe it would be great if we could classify it under a portal --Cyarenkatnikh (talk) 13:01, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

If the decision were mine, I would say that an anti-religious polemic doesn't really belong on any religion's portal. I would wait until we have collected more works from the Golden Age of Freethought (a current goal of mine) and then create a Freethought/Atheist/Agnosticism portal for them.

Lint errors

Hi. If you want to format content inside {{rh}}, please add it inside the template, see this, otherwise you'll generate a lint error of this kind. BTW, that section is not transcluded in the Main space, so the formatting will never be enjoyed by the reader; it is up to the editor to judge if they want to spend an extra effort or not for little added value. Possible alternatives to your new template

Hi, I see you've recently created {{Asterisk above}}. There are a couple of existing templates that may well do what you want: {{sfrac nobar}} and {{dual line}}. The first of these might be best as you can adjust the vertical alignment. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 06:16, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
