Lint errors

Hi -- I see you’ve been finding some syntax problems in the pages I’ve worked on. Can you give me a hint as to what the biggest errors are so that I don't keep adding more of them? Which templates should always be used in {{/s}}{{/e}} form? Sorry about all the extra work I’ve caused for you! Levana Taylor (talk) 20:16, 23 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Levana Taylor: {{float right}} has to use /s /e version when you are placing a block element like {{c}} in the floated content.
{{left sidenote}} cannot have an element like {{c}} within it currently, this is a KNOWN limitation.

Well, I will join the "I hate sidenotes" association then. I will see what I can do about putting those "Notting Hill Mystery" sidenotes into a format that works. Levana Taylor (talk) 20:47, 23 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Proofread of the Month "source file needs to be fixed" notice

Hi ShakespeareFan00,

You changed the status of the Proofread of the Month index to "Source file must be fixed before proofreading," leaving the message "many pages have had to be proofread from another source due to blank scans... Let's find a better scan of patch the pages here?"

What exactly were you referring to? I checked a few random pages of the index and they seemed fine (didn't see blank pages). Maybe what you encountered was a client side issue? DraconicDark (talk) 00:45, 26 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

redirects and delete requests

Hi. If you would like to have a redirect deleted, then please neuter the redirect aspect of the page when adding the deletion template. Otherwise it just all flicks through to the target page which isn't what is needed. — billinghurst sDrewth 22:25, 30 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Assistance?

When my computer broke, I left a broken table of contents on an index page.

I am trying to fix it now and not succeeding. I think it is some problem with how I used the dotted TOC page listing template.

I was wondering if I could direct some of your formating magic towards it? Index:Amazing Stories Volume 01 Number 03.djvu and the not rendering perfectly page is Page:Amazing Stories Volume 01 Number 03.djvu/3. --RaboKarbakian (talk) 15:57, 24 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sandbox

Hi. If you want to play, then consider using Template:sandbox or just creating /template and use those. These don't need deleting, and can be emptied and contents required as needed. — billinghurst sDrewth 23:52, 11 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

I don't think TemplateStyles works in Userspace though. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm not fully understanding why generating what should have been near identical code didn't quite work though. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 23:55, 11 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Template:Sidenotes begin

This template is in use on dozens, if not hundreds of works. If you plan to modify it, I would create a temporary new template to experiment with. Otherwise, every time you make an edit, the software will update each page that uses the template. This will create a large backlog, and could potentially break all the pages where the template is currently in use. --EncycloPetey (talk) 19:35, 13 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

You don't need to tell me obvious stuff like that, You know I've been here long enough not to edit important templates without good reasons. Changes reverted back to the stable version, until someone actually has the time, expertise or courage to actually provide a REAL solution to the sidenotes issue, not a hacked together one. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 19:41, 13 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yet here we are. The previous discussion on your talk page was for the same reason. And for the second time this year you've made a rapid series of edits to this particular template. Each one of those four edits created a wave of page updates (five now that you've reverted). Yet, if you had tested first, then only one edit would have been required. You say you know these things, but you aren't using that knowledge. --EncycloPetey (talk) 19:53, 13 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
