Re:Brundtland ReportEdit

I removed Category:UN because I found I'd put it in a Sub-cat of the UN, the other Category was redlinked so I created it, I did'nt that it no longer exists so I'll remove the Category. Kathleen.wright5 10:29, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

The Bolshevik MythEdit

I do try and take care to not delete works that you can copy over to Wikilivres. In this case I did not realize and still do not understand why it would be acceptable there. It has been at WS:COPYVIO for over a month with no one objecting to the idea that it is clear violation of copyright (not just unacceptable for Wikisoure's stricter standards). Obviously you must see some loophole that I cannot which would show it not to be a copyright violation. If you will take care to leave a note about such works being acceptable to Wikilivres I would not delete them until all is copied. And of course, if I recognize something that would be acceptable there I will leave you a note. But this is a US work that is fully copyrighted, I do not know what I am missing.--BirgitteSB 23:29, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

The author died in 1936, so by the 50 pma rule, it should be PD, isn't? Actually it seems that it is also PD in Europe. Yann 08:36, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
You are right. Sorry for missing that.--BirgitteSB 13:13, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcomeEdit

Thanks - just thought I'd be polite and thank you. I'm a highly active Wikipedia editor, so I'm pretty familiar with most of this, but I won't be editing much. I want to split the work The Hollow Needleinto chapters but when i do that should I keep the names of the chapters off and just put them at the beginning of each chapter or leave them off entirely? Thanks in advance.

I see one Keep, zero Delete, what gives? Sherurcij Collaboration of the Week: Author:Charles Spurgeon 23:30, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

I don't necessarily think it should be kept; but I think you and FloNight should have posted your opinions on the page, and given a week for people to respond, before deleting it. It looks sketchy, and doesn't provide details for reference if the issue arises in the future. Sherurcij Collaboration of the Week: Author:Charles Spurgeon 17:59, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Index:Sanskrit Grammar by Whitney p1.djvuEdit

I tried to proofread some pages of the above, but the Contents and Abbreviations are out of alignment with the original so I left them unproofread and some pages need Sanskrit writing images. Could you do something about this as its on your TO DO list and you're an Indian specialist? Kathleen.wright5 08:34, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Re: Duplicates On Wikisource:Transcription ProjectsEdit

How exactly did you determine which ones were "duplicates". Taking a random cross-section:

I found only one redirect, and none of them seem to be duplicates. So I'm not exactly sure what the problem is. Psychless 18:59, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

new brEdit

Yann, the BR you added is being questioned at Template_talk:PD-1923#MOS_violation. {{PD-old-70}} and {{PD-old-100}} dont have a leading BR, so I am curious why you added it to the 1923 license template. John Vandenberg (chat) 01:46, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Translation and stating a sourceEdit

Hello Yann, thanks for your greeting!

Today, I started editing Russian Wikisource according to my "vintage ethnography" interest.

My long-planned thing is an accurate Russian translation of the article Catholic Encyclopedia (1913)/Kutenai Indians.

Now that I nearly finished it, I would like to know if there is an accepted order on how to formally (0) name (1) state the article source and (2) categorize the article about an ethnic group accurately in the Russian edition when translated from the Catholic Encyclopedia (1913).

For the Catholic Encyclopedia there is a template here, but I am not sure it may fit into Russian edition at the moment.

Please give advice or tell who I may consult on these issues.

I think I am going to ask my questions on the Russian edition too, but en.wikisource seems to be a lot more "populated" at the moment so some of the issues may have already been discussed here.

Thanks in advance, Tar-ba-gan (talk) 10:10, 29 September 2008 (UTC) (my lair in en.Wikipedia)

OK now it has been changed by user:Dmitrismirnov who seems to be ready to mirror most Catholic Encyclopedia organizational features... Tar-ba-gan (talk) 21:36, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Please UndoEdit

Please revert your edit regarding margin-top: 1em;. The extra white space confuses readers and is unnecessary. 01:40, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Please look at Hatha Yoga Pradipika. You can see practically 3 lines of confusing space between the bottom of the text and the start of the top of the template. This is not the case with other pages in wikisource. Please remove margin-top: 1em;. 00:52, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
On the contrary, this is much better than when the template is glued to the text. Yann (talk) 00:55, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
The space is creating more hurt then help. I reverted your change on Hatha Yoga Pradipika. 00:26, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
You don't know what you want. You complain that there is too much space, so I removed some space, and then you revert me. Yann (talk) 16:44, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
I cordially ask you to please look at the talk page. 03:06, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I see that I might be confusing you. Here, you added a space that makes affects all other templates that use this template. Here is a result. You will see that there is an unnecessary space right between the template and the body of the text. This is a source of confusion. I impore you to delete this extra space you did here. 03:14, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Thank youEdit

Thank you so much for helping me with that and correcting it for me! Forever grateful Bksecret (talk) 03:07, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Yann Ignores Plain InformationEdit

Recently Yann deleted a new posting because of a copyright message. Yann failed to read (or, worse, failed to understand) the sentence that followed it, "Copyright shared with all who retain the previous line", which clearly is an "open" licence for copying it. Yann did not even bother to TRY to find out that the one who posted it was the actual author! And if this Wiki site has a more-clear way of specifying copyright status among the selection-options, when a new text was posted, it is obviously NOT so clear to a new user, or this mess would not have happened.

Thanks + Maid of AmsterdamEdit

Thanks for your welcome. I can't get this, my first effort, to format. Getting stuff how you want it seems to require something different than on For instance on, I can just press return to make a space between to lines, like I was in Microsoft Word. All help/cleanup appreciated!:) Sticky Parkin (talk) 14:21, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Question about your edit to Template:DJVU page linkEdit

Hey, why did you add the right alignment to {{DJVU page link}}?[1]

I ask because it makes it impossible to use multiple instances of the template on the same line; I had to create Page:Arte or Crafte of Rhethoryke - 1899.djvu/5 without the template, otherwise it looked very bad (the first number of the range, the hyphen, and the last number of the range were each on their own lines). Since I'm going to be creating a similar template (but about five times larger and more complex), I'd rather use the template.

Thanks. EVula // talk // 21:09, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the welcome message. I do have a few questions regarding formatting. My goal is to add all 5 Pennsylvania constitutions (1776,1790,1838,1874,1968) plus the myriad colonial constitutions. I am not clear on how I should go about 1) proper formatting 2) naming conventions 3) how to organize them.

I have already added Pennsylvania Constitution of 1790, Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 1776,Plan or Frame of Government for the Commonwealth or State of Pennsylvania, and A Declaration of the Rights of the Inhabitants of the Commonwealth or State of Pennsylvania. Retrieving books from Digital Library of IndiaEdit

Dear Yann, Greetings! I am sharing a small python script which you can use to fetch the OCRed books from the Digital Library of India, which houses several books related to Gandhi, scriptures

#python script to download book from Digital Library of India.

        book_fd.write( "\n-----------------------------------%d-----------------------------------\n"%i)
        book_fd.write( )
        i += 1
    # close the book.

if __name__ == "__main__":

I agree totally. But that is the name at W-Commons. If you change the name to Index:Principia Ethica.djvu it will bring up another version. Look on the history page for Index:Principiaethican00mooruoft.djvu. I've already tried it.Ingram (talk) 12:49, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

There are two editions of this work on Commons, one is named File:Principia Ethica.djvu and the other is named File:Principiaethican00mooruoft.djvu. The former was printed in 1959, the latter was printed in 1922. I am using the latter. There isn't a "move" tab on the file pages, so I did not know how to move/rename the file. Also, I was unable to overwrite File:Principiaethican00mooruoft.djvu with a better name. If you could explain to me how to rename a file on Commons, I will gladly do so. I think that I've figured out how to do it correctly, or at least no one at commons has said that I've done it wrong at this time, so you can just ignore this request. --Xxagile (talk) 22:57, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
