Quotations collections

Three books of quotations (these will also serve as a source for Wikiquote):

  • We have one page of Dictionary of Quotations (Classical)/A from Harbottle's Dictionary of Quotations (classical), available here, published in 1897, mostly translations into English from Greek and Latin quotes. I'd like to have all of it.
  • Harbottle's Dictionary of Quotations (Spanish), available here, published in 1907, translations into English from Spanish quotes (front matter and notes throughout the text are in English).
  • Dictionary of Contemporary Quotations by Helena Swan, available here, published in 1904.

Here's:
They're both DJVu form of the Google Books, though I've stripped off the Google scan page and done some surgery to remove duplicate pages. They're the usual quality of old google scans, so it's a good thing there's no plates or illustrations -- but otherwise they appear to be legible and (as far as I can tell) complete.
I'll look into the Swan compendium at a later time. Was there a reason you didn't want the French quotations too for Harbottle? To make a full set? --Mukkakukaku (talk) 17:25, 9 September 2018 (UTC)
For completeness' sake, I also snagged:
(Figured it wouldn't hurt to grab them even if you didn't ask for them. The scans are much higher quality than the Classical and Spanish because they're not from Google.)
Swan's contemporary quotations are here: Index:Dictionary of Contemporary Quotations.djvu. This isn't the Google Books one you linked to, but rather another I found on IA, so it's much better quality. It appears to be the same edition.
I'll keep an eye out for Harbottle's German quotations, but I haven't seen any sign of a file in the usual places yet -- the only reason I know there is one to look for is because I saw an advert for it in one of the other collections.
@BD2412: -- Hope this'll cover what you need for your project. :) --Mukkakukaku (talk) 18:55, 9 September 2018 (UTC)

Another apparently unrenewed book, this from the 1940s. Arthur Machen, weaver of fantasy, by Gekle, William F.--Prosfilaes (talk) 12:43, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

I have been working for some time to transcribe the first 23 volumes (i.e., those in the public domain) of the Oregon Historical Quarterly. I plan to submit an article to the OHQ about the value of Wikisource and Wikimedia, and the importance of aligning the efforts of traditional history journals with wiki efforts. It would be great to have one really nice, complete volume to illustrate the point. I have completed the transcription of Volume 7, but I have many small questions; making it a Proofread of the Month would be very helpful in getting input and assistance from various experienced Wikisource folks. -Pete (talk) 20:55, 4 January 2018 (UTC)

@Peteforsyth: Since this volume has since been validated, I think this request can be marked resolved. Good work! Inductiveloadtalk/contribs 08:01, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
