Re-transclude after validation

You don't have to re-transclude after validation. The software just takes time to catch up sometimes. --EncycloPetey (talk) 06:40, 30 December 2023 (UTC)

Film transcriptions

Hey, thanks for going back and validating some of my movie transcriptions! WikiProject Film is a currently active project, so I'd suggest you join if you're interested in working on movies. You can also proofread movies from scratch, using the WikiProject Film draft process. There's now even a video tutorial on Commons that shows how to do it (hopefully it helps). Spaces

Hi, just noticed your edit comment in passing and wanted to affirm your approach. In general we do collapse the spaces in "had n't", "should n't", &c. There are a few times when we would keep them, but that will be documented on the Index talk page with the reason for keeping them or a comment on the page. The main reason to keep would be a book that was using them to represent a dialect for one of the speakers, but if all speakers have the same dialect, then collapse them. Ppoem

Hi FTPI,

Thanks for your edits on The Tale of Beowulf thus far. If I may, a few tips and corrections follow:

When using ppoem, at the end of one section, use end=close, and the beginning of the next, start=open (rather than leaving start=follow, end=follow always).

Please add headers, even if they aren't transcluded. I have edited the index page so that these should automatically populate.

Some lines of the text start with a small indent. If you see any, please use {{em}}.

I am also adding section tags whenever each "chapter" starts and finishes, i.e. ## s1 ## and ## s2 ##. I can go back through and add these during transclusion if it is unclear where/how to place these.

Thank you for your help on the use of ppoem! I am learning and I appreciate your assistance.

Regarding headers, I generally don't see the use in spending a lot of time adding them. SnowyCinema has an essay that convinced me. But I didn't know that you could automatically populate them in the index page- believe it or not, I had been filling them in over and over by "hand" in previous works before I decided it wasn't worth the effort. Yes, headers and footers (naming page numbers, work name, chapter name on top or bottom of the page) are the bane of my existence. I can see the argument that they show the page number so would be useful for that, but even then I feel like it's only a marginal helping (maybe some editor might be in a situation where the page image doesn't load for them so they forget the page number, but realistically who among us is ever in that situation?). I personally value speed and quantity in the main namespace over nuances in our draft space (which is what Page effectively is), since WS is probably millions of works behind being even close to an exhaustive resource, so cutting time on a per-work basis is valuable... But again, all of that was just my personal opinion so take it as you will. SnowyCinema (talk) 15:20, 28 April 2024 (UTC)

Sure, I would be interested! I've done seven entire texts so far, mostly sticking to the monthly challenge as of yet. But I'm always open for more recommendations.
