Euthymus article

{{helpme}} I cannot find the valid Greek special character (Edit → Menu → Special characters) and I use (Εύθυμος) in article Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology/Euthymus (Source: the original article of Euthymus is here). Proofing in EB1911 vol. 24

Bonjour Francois-Pier, thanks for your recent proofing e.g. Page:EB1911 - Volume 22.djvu/833 and Page:EB1911 - Volume 22.djvu/834, I have made further typo fixes on these pages (I have been searching EB1911 for common scan errors e.g. "]ersey" for "Jersey" and found one on djvu.834. I also found a further nine typo errors on that page (plus other issues), please only mark a page as proofed if you have proofed all of it (there were six errors in the first paragraph alone). Another obvious error was "dorninions" for "dominions" — the error shows with a red underline when editing in the browser, so it does stand out.

I also used the {Polytonic} template for Greek text (which correctly renders Greek as printed) and added transliteration (which is used extensively in EB1911). A useful website for the transliteration is http://transliterate.com/ The consensus for B.C. is smaller text not small-caps, so use {{smaller|B.C.}}

Another useful source for checking text are the high-resolution scans at archive.org e.g. https://archive.org/stream/encyclopaediabri22chisrich#page/816/mode/1up where you can zoom in.

For fine print across pages use {{EB1911 fine print/s}} and {{EB1911 fine print/e}} as I have used on those pages (which maintains the fine print without a line break when transcluded). If you have any questions, just ask. Regards, DivermanAU (talk) 20:09, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

Bonjour @DivermanAU: When I started contributing I had not understood the use of Proofing, because of Validating, sorry for that typo errors. From the above, I don't use the templates {{Polytonic}} and {{EB1911 fine print}}, because I did not consider them necessary.

In addition, I have completed the ancient Greek texts in Index:Hesiod, The Homeric Hymns, and Homerica.djvu without polytonic (I can add it), but I don't know how to display these texts on opposite pages. Can you help me? Regards, Francois-Pier (talk) 21:02, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

14. This song is called by pseudo-Herodotus Εἰρησιώνη. The word properly indicates a garland wound with wool which was worn at harvest-festivals, but came to be applied first to the harvest song and then to any begging song. The present is akin to the Swallow-Song (Χελιδόνισμα), sung at the beginning of spring, and answering to the still surviving English May-Day songs. Cp. Athenaeus, viii. 360 b.
15. The lice which they caught in their clothes they left behind, but carried home in their clothes those which they could not catch.

The present is akin to the Swallow-Song (Χελιδόνισμα), sung at the beginning of spring, and answering to the still surviving English May-Day songs. Cp. Athenaeus, viii. 360 b.

The present is akin to the Swallow-Song (Χελιδόνισμα), sung at the beginning of spring, and answering to the still surviving English May-Day songs. Cp. Athenaeus, viii. 360 b.

Hi Francois-Pier, thanks for the recent edits you've made, your work is appreciated. FYI, I made a minor change to several of the articles you created by adding a sort parameter to the category for Volcano Islands, Wensleydale, Wollin, Yezo, Yezidis, Wends, Wolof. Hi! Just a quick note: the HTML attribute align=center in tables is deprecated and can cause problems, for example on export, where it's often interpreted as a left aligned table with centred content.
